Wendy Luxton has been a Freelance Presenter at Falklands Radio since February 2018. She has been working for the last 38 years, starting out as a teleprinter operator at Cable & Wireless but moved into administration, working mainly within Falkland Islands Government departments but spent about six years in the private sector. She has also been a chambermaid, worked in a plastic factory and had a go at being a dental nurse as well as working with the elderly and young.
Wendy hopes to grow old presenting at Falklands Radio adding that this is the “first time in my life that I’ve worked a full year and am still loving every day”. As a result, you can join Wendy on any of the following shows; ‘The Morning Show’ on weekdays from 10:00 to 12:00, occasionally ‘Solid Rock’ on a Tuesday from 19:00 and 20:00, every other week on the ‘Best Of’ on Thursdays from 19:00 to 20:00 and finally every other week she presents ‘Saturday Classics’ from 12:00 to 13:00.
Wendy is a very active person who enjoys running, getting out in nature and taking walks along the beach or coastline. She enjoys swimming and dancing and has been known to enjoy watching sports, so long as it doesn’t involve ‘armchair experts’. The Olympics and athletics in particular are her favourites sports to view. When asked about her interests, Wendy said “There’s a little chef in me – I own over 100 recipe books! I’m also into nutrition in a big way. It’s very important to me.”
She is also an active member of Team Tranquil, which is a Mental Health Awareness Charity.
