ANZAC Day Commemoration 2020

ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand.

All Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in conflict and war are remembered on April 25 each year. On the same day a service is held in Stanley, Falkland Islands, in the early morning. This year the ceremony was made all the more poignant due to Covid 19 changing the way things were done. There were only three participants, Mr Steve Dent, who led the ceremony, the Reverand Ian Faulds and His Excellency the Governor, Mr Nigel Phillips CBE (all keeping a respectful distance from each other). They were accompanied by bugler, Mr Paul Freer, who hit the notes perfectly despite the far from perfect conditions.

This programme was broadcast on Falklands Radio on April 27, 2020. It will be available for one year.
