Ronnie MacLennan Baird is a Freelance Presenter and a Freelance Reporter. His regular show is the Saturday afternoon magazine programme “Last Week Next Week”. He also covers other shows and helps out in the newsroom as needed.
Ronnie first came to the Islands in 2009 to work in the Attorney General’s Chambers and joined Falklands Radio in 2010 as a volunteer for the “Simply Classical” show. He worked fulltime in the newsroom between 2014 and 2017.
He was born in Glasgow, and went to school and University in Scotland before moving to London to train as a lawyer.
His hobbies and interests include: Trains, retro UK TV and social media. He says he has a “pretty varied taste in music”, but novelty records are his guilty pleasure.
His first appearance on radio was in 1981 as the child narrator of a Christmas programme on BBC Radio Scotland. Like Traighana, he has completed the press bench trifecta in court, but (unlike Traighana) has also appeared in court as a lawyer – quadrafecta!
Regarding future plans, he says he “gave up making plans a long time ago” and he now goes with the flow.
