General election sees 19 hopeful candidates standing for eight seats

This is the highest number of candidates standing since 1993 and an increase of four from the last general election.

The names were announced by Returning Officer Dr Andrea Clausen on 21 November.

For the camp constituency where three seats are available, Jack Ford is re-running with Dot Gould, Michael Goss and Andy Watson all standing for the first time.

For the Stanley constituency where there are five seats available, MLAs running for re-election are: Peter Biggs, Mark Pollard, Gavin Short, Roger Spink and Leona Vidal.

Past MLAs Stacy Bragger, Lewis Clifton and Glenn Ross are also candidates joined by Grant Budd, Chris Clarke, Dean Dent, Clovis Kilmartin, Cheryl Roberts, Lee Summers and Gary Webb.

Voting is scheduled for camp on 10 December and for Stanley 11 December.
