Daphne Arthur-Almond and Oliver Thompson will be the flag and baton bearers at next month’s Games
Baton-bearer Daphne competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She achieved an historic first ever victory for a Falklands women’s representative beating India’s Sonia Choundry in the women’s singles lawn bowls.

Oliver, fresh from the World Bowls Indoor Championships in Australia where he achieved a quarter final finish in the mixed pairs, makes his Commonwealth Games debut. He will by flying the flag at the opening ceremony which is scheduled for July 23 at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro arena.

The Falkland Islands will be sending a team of six bowlers to compete at the games in the men’s and women’s singles and pairs for indoor bowls, the first ever time the sport has been included in the Games which run from July 23 to August 2.
