History made as Youth Parliament addresses Legislative Assembly for the first time

The Falklands Islands Youth Parliament with Speaker Keith Biles

There have only been three instances of the House being addressed by invited guests.

The 11 young and temporarily-honourable members follow in the footsteps of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle last year, and US Congressman F James Sensenbrenner back in 2012.

The Youth Parliament, comprised of students from the Falkland Islands Community School, asked the Speaker to formally recognise the mental health and wellbeing needs of young people and children in the Falklands, and requested that the Chief Executive report back to the house on progress, within the next 6 months.
